Substitute Information

Substitute Qualifications

All individuals interested in becoming a substitute teacher for Danbury ISD, must meet the following qualifications:

  • 20 years of age or older
  • Submit an online application
    • The application must be completed with all required information; a minimum of 3 professional references and uploading a college transcript
  • Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED (Copies of the diploma or GED are required if a college transcript is not provided.)
  • College graduates must provide copies of college transcripts that indicate degree earned and date awarded)
  • Must pass a Criminal History Investigation through a name-based TxDPS check and be uploaded for fingerprints through the Texas Education Agency 
    • If you've already been fingerprinted through another Texas public school you will not need to be fingerprinted again
    • If not, DISD will start the process in order for you to be fingerprinted and it will be at your own expense (~$50)

 

Substitute Orientation Sessions

At least 3 sessions will be held throughout the year.  You will be emailed with the dates and times of the session.

Bring a copy of your driver’s license, social security card, and a voided check or bank account information.

Certified Teacher  $100.00 $50.00
Degreed (Not Texas Certified) $90.00 $45.00
Non-Certified (60+ College Hours) $80.00 $40.00
Non-Certified (Non-degreed) $75.00 $37.50
Certified Long-term teacher assignments (more than 9 consecutive days) $120.00  
Non-Certified Long-term teacher assignments (more than 9 consecutive days) Degreed-not Texas Certified $100.00  
Non-Certified Long Term 60+ College Hours
$85.00
 
Non-Degreed Long Term
$80.00
 

Long-Term Substitutes

Substitutes placed in teacher assignments for more than 9 consecutive days will be paid at a higher rate. Long-term substitutes perform additional duties that a long-term assignment requires such as: grading papers, preparing lesson plans, attending parent conferences, posting grades, as well as any other duties of the teacher. 

** Support staff positions are not eligible for long-term pay.**
